8 killed, others injured as farmers, herders clash in Adamawa

A fresh clash between farmers and herders in Kodomun Community of Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, has claimed no fewer than eight lives and left many others with injuries.

The state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident, saying a combined security team had been dispatched to the area to restore normalcy, with no arrests made so far.

The clash, a yearly occurrence, has claimed several lives and destroyed livestock and property worth millions of naira over times.

The latest clash was allegedly triggered by the killing of a youth in Kodomun by suspected herders. It was gathered the crisis spread to neighboring communities of Kudiri, Sabonlayi, Kwayine, and Gorogbakai villages.

Addressing an enlarged meeting at the palace of the Hama Batta, His Royal Majesty Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, the Chairman of Demsa LGA, Akham Jalo, appealed for calm and urged stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the lingering problem.
