Police arrest two burglars for stealing N5.8m from POS operator in Jigawa
The Police in Jigawa State have arrested 20-year-old Usman Yusuf and Ibrahim Aliyu over the alleged burglary of a POS shop in Gwaram Local Government.
Police spokesman, DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed this in a statement issued to DAILY POST.
He said the suspects burgled and trespassed into a Point of sale (POS) shop and carted away the sum of five million, eight hundred and fifty thousand naira (N5,850,000:00).
According to the statement, “the police on 09/11/2023 received a report that at about 1945hrs, a group of miscreants criminally conspired, burgled, and trespassed into a Point of sale (POS) shop and carted away the sum of five million, eight hundred and fifty thousand nairas (N5,850,000:00).
He said upon receipt of the report, a team of policemen swiftly swung into action, where the suspects were arrested.
DSP. Shiisu said On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and mentioned two others who are at large as their accomplices.
He said three million, six hundred and seventeen thousand five hundred naira (N3,617,500:00) was recovered from the suspects and they mentioned two of the fleeing culprits as their accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police directed that the case should be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse for discreet investigation.
He said the suspects would be arraigned before the court to face the full weight of the law.
