Colombia 2024: Japan record 2-1 victory over Falconets

Japan forward, Chinari Sasai claimed teamwork and togetherness contributed to the team’s victory over Nigeria.

The former champions recorded a 2-1 victory over the Falconets in Bogota on Friday morning.

Miyu Matsunaga and Maya Hijikata were on target for the Asians in the game.

Shola Shobowale scored Nigeria’s only goal of the keenly contested encounter.

“We knew that Nigeria is physically stronger and faster than us, but everyone was able to stay focused and score the first goal, and then the second.

“I’m very happy because this is a victory we won together as a team,” Sasai was quoted by FIFA.com.

Japan will face Spain in the quarter-finals on Sunday.
