Ogun airlifts 1,236 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia

The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has said that all the batches of pilgrims from the state, numbering 1,236, have been airlifted to Saudi Arabia for the 2023 Hajj rites.

The Chairman of the Ogun State 2023 Hajj Ad-hoc committee, Dr Tajudeen Asaye, disclosed this to journalists on Saturday.

He said the pilgrims were airlifted to Saudi Arabia for the spiritual exercise within a few days following the support of the state governor, Dapo Abiodun.

Asaye said the first and second batches of pilgrims were 840 each, while the third batch of 376 pilgrims were airlifted on Friday.

The chairman, however, advised the pilgrims to follow the rules and obey the officials throughout their stay.

He said, “The total number of pilgrims from Ogun state is 1,236. The third batch of 376 pilgrims has arrived in Saudi Arabia.

“We must thank our governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, for his prompt response and logistic support.

“We airlifted the pilgrims within four days without itches. We are praying for our governor as he begins his second term that Allah will ease his tasks for him.”
