1. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, President, Joe Ajaero has said President Bola Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government would ensure that one of the moribund refineries in the country begins operation by December. Speaking after meeting with the president, Ajaero said Tinubu also pledged to ensure that agreement is reached on the wage award for Nigerian workers immediately.
2. President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday transmitted the list containing his second batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate. The President submitted the list containing 19 names through Femi Gbajabiamila, his Chief of Staff.
3. Military Chiefs from some West African countries came into Abuja, Nigeria’s capital for a high-powered delegation meeting over the coup in the Republic of Niger on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by the chairman of ECOWAS military chief, Gen. Christopher Musa.
4. Power supply from Nigeria to the Republic of Niger was stopped on Wednesday, as sanctions against the neighbouring country by the Economic Community of West African States increased. ECOWAS, led by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu decided on sanctions against the military personnel in Niger who toppled President Mohamed Bazoum last week.
5. The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will today, Thursday, decide the fate of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) members. The meeting will be held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
6. The Plateau State House of Assembly has okayed 19 commissioner-nominees submitted to it by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang. The nominees were scrutinised by the lawmakers who asked them questions on what best they could offer for the progress of the new administration in the State.
7. The National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Makurdi has dismissed the petition filed by Ogbu Steve of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), challenging the victory of Onah Blessed of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) as the winner of the Oju 1 State Constituency seat.
8. The 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, says its troops have rescued four kidnapped victims and destroyed bandits’ camps in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 1 Division Nigerian Army, Lt-Col. Musa Yahaya, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kaduna.
9. Air Peace on Wednesday said a passenger on board one of its flights allegedly stole N1m from another passenger’s bag but was caught. The airline’s spokesperson, Stanley Olisa, said in a statement in Lagos that the incident took place onboard Abuja-Port Harcourt flight P47192 on July 27.
10. The Federal Operations Unit, Zone A Ikeja, of the Nigeria Customs Service, said it intercepted a Toyota Sienna vehicle loaded with 15 bulletproof jackets, 15 pieces of jack knives, and 20 pieces of pistol pouches at Ijebu-Ode checkpoint in Ogun State. A statement by the command on Wednesday said the driver of the vehicle was arrested and the controlled wares seized.
