Court sentences two to 10 years for illegal firearms possession in Delta

A Delta State High Court sitting in Kwale has convicted and sentenced two suspects, Joshua Anamali, 25, and Nelson Adoh, 30, to ten years in jail for illegal possession of firearms.

The court, presided over by Hon Justice O.F. Enenmo, convicted the duo after finding them guilty of illegally possessing a cut-to-size single-barrel gun.

The duo are cooling their heels at the Custodial Centre in Kwale.

Prosecuting Counsel, Mrs Catherine O. Oboreruomo, said two witnesses testified in the case against the defendants, who defended themselves.

In a chat with newsmen after the judgment, Mrs Oboreruomo advised young people to shun crime, affirming that the result of crime is condemnation and total destruction.

The duo were arrested by policemen on routine stop-and-search duty on the 27th of January, 2021, at Ndemili in Ndokwa-West Local Government Area of Delta State, where the exhibit was recovered from them.
