Edo 2024 guber: Only 3 parties submitted complete polling, collation agents’ details –INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that only three of the 17 political parties participating in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State have fully uploaded the details of their agents for all polling and collation levels.

In a statement issued on Thursday, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, disclosed that the 16 parties participating in the election had nominated 44,687 agents out of an expected 80,410.

Olumekun noted that one political party failed to nominate any agents at any level of voting or collation, and the total number of agents nominated represents 55.6% of the expected figure.

He said that following the closing of the portal for the nomination on July 30, “In Edo State, there are 4,519 polling units and 211 collation centres, comprising 192 ward centres, 18 local government centres, and the state collation centre in Benin City.

“A political party fielding a candidate in the election is expected to nominate 4,730 agents. Of the 17 parties participating in the election, the commission expected a cumulative figure of 80,410 agents,” Olumekun said.
