EPL: Arsenal miss chance to go top after 2-0 shock defeat at Bournemouth

Arsenal missed the chance to go top of the Premier League after they suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth in Saturday’s late kick-off.

The result saw the Gunners’ unbeaten start to the campaign come to an end.

Mikel Arteta’s men went down to 10 men in the first half after William Saliba was sent off for a last-man tackle.

The Cherries took full advantage of their superior numbers in the second half.

A wonderful set-piece routine gave Bournemouth the lead as Ryan Christie hammered in the opener.

Justin Kluivert then added the second from the penalty spot after Jakub Kiwior’s under-hit-back pass led to David Raya tripping Evanilson.

Arsenal remain in third place with 17 points from eight fixtures.
