Family members chain, starve man to death in Nasarawa over alleged witchcraft
The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested Hassan Ismail and Mohammed Sani for allegedly killing their son over a witchcraft allegation.
The acting Commissioner of Police in the state, Shettima Jauro Muhammed, made this known to journalists while parading the suspects on Monday.
He said the arrest, which was effected on Thursday last week, followed credible information that the deceased, Mohammed Sani of Agyaragu Tofa, was tied and locked up in a room where he starved to death.
He revealed that the family members hurriedly buried him to avoid suspicion.
He said: “Based on credible information that one Mohammed Sani of Agyaragu Tofa was tied on both hands and legs and locked up in a room where he starved to death and was hurriedly buried by his family members on the allegation of witchcraft, police operatives attached to A Division, Lafia, swung into action and got Hassan Ismail and Mohammed Sani arrested. Efforts are ongoing to arrest all individuals involved in the dastardly act.”
