NCoS wins medals at 2024 Kwara Joint Paramilitary Tournament
The Kwara State Command of Nigerian Correctional Service has emerged winners of the volleyball contest of the 2024 Kwara Joint Paramilitary Tournament.
In a statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the NCoS, Kwara Command, SC, Adegblugbe Philip O. (anipr) today, Wednesday 27th of November, 2024, the tournament marks another milestone in the history of the NCoS as it presents trophies, medals and certificates to distinguished participants at the just concluded Joint Paramilitary tournament in the State.
According to the Command’s PRO, the tournament featured different sporting activities where the Nigeria Police team emerged winners in football contest, Nigerian Correctional Service emerged winners in volleyball and the Nigerian Immigration triumphed in Table tennis. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and Federal Fire Service emerged first and second runners up respectively in volleyball.
The tournament which featured seven paramilitary agencies like the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service, NSCDC, NDLEA, Federal Fire Service and Nigerian Custom Service had the duo of Nigerian Correctional Service and Nigerian Police also winning medals in Draft game and “Ayo olopon”, the traditional game, the statement added.
In football contest, CA1 Isiaq Olanrewaju Yusuf of the Nigerian Correctional Service who scored seven goals bagged the award for the highest goal scorer of the competition.
Expressing appreciation, the State Controller, Danmairomu Shuaib Ayodeji thanked the Almighty Allah, the participants, officers and men of the Service for a show of perfect inter-agency collaboration during the tournament. He especially applauded the Controller-General of the Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa FICMC, MFR, mni, for giving him the enabling environment to serve as the State Controller while urging participants to continue with such good gesture.
The leader of the sport unit, ACC Abigail Oredun Ogunbiyi, remarked that the tournament was exciting and interesting against all odds. She added that it is a thing of joy to observe that the sports unit of the Service is expanding in leaps and bounds with the capacity to inform, educate and entertain officers based on love, mutual respect, discipline among ranks and files.
The Command Sport Officer SC Salman Saadu appreciated the State Controller, Danmairomu Shuaib Ayodeji, the participants, the invited guest, friends and all sport lovers present at the 2024 paramilitary tournament while giving all thanks, glory and praises to the Almighty God for the success of the programme.
The tournament is to be rounded up on Wednesday 11th of December, 2024, with a joint jogging exercise for the retiring officers and men in the Command, the statement added.
