Niger Gov sacks Executive Secretary of Pilgrims Board
The Executive Secretary of the Niger Pilgrims Board, Alhaji Making Lapai has been removed from office while on assignment in Saudi Arabia.
The announcement of his sack was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG) Ahmed Ibrahim Matane.
The Nation learnt that Lapai was on special official assignment in Saudi Arabia when he was sacked and replaced.
The reasons he was removed are unknown as Lapai has been applauded in recent times for conducting the best pilgrim programmes in the past years.
Niger Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello, in the statement by the SSG, announced the approval of the appointment of Muhammad Awwal Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Matane said that Aliyu’s appointment was based on professionalism, merit, proven credentials, integrity, and outstanding records of decades of experience and he is expected to comply with the operational structure and policy objective as contained in the State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Matane also reminded the Executive Secretary that he is also expected to bring his knowledge, skills, and wealth of experience to bear in the performance of his new assignment by working assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in him.

Aliyu on resumption of office assured the 2023 intending pilgrims of a hitch-free Hajj exercise.
He said that preparations had been concluded for the airlift of the intending pilgrims to the Holy Land as scheduled by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
