NYSC extends service year of 40 corps members in Osun
The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Osun State has extended the service year of 40 corps members from the NYSC Batch B Stream II for various infractions.
It also revealed that 23 other corps members absconded out of the 3,014 that successfully disengaged from the scheme.
This was made known by the NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim during the passing out parade of the Batch B Stream II corps members on Thursday.
Obim, who commended the corps members for their good comportment and discipline displayed throughout the service year, urged them to be good ambassadors and to utilise the skills acquired through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED training.
He charged them to leverage the skills and various training acquired during the service year to be self-reliant in their quest to attain their goals.
In his words, “Leverage on the skills and various training you acquired during your service year and be self reliant.”
While charging the corps members to be security conscious, Obim advised against night travels as the scheme frowned against it.
He also advised corps members still in service to take their responsibilities seriously and prioritise their security by familiarising themselves with the security pamphlet provided by the scheme.
He emphasised that the safety of corps members was a top priority for the NYSC.
