Protests: Police operatives flood Abuja as demonstrations climax Saturday

Hundreds of the Nigeria Police Force Operatives have been deployed across major flashpoints in Abuja as the Hunger Protest reaches climax today, Saturday.

DAILY POST observed that the police and other security operatives increased surveillance in the Nation’s capital on Friday evening.

Major entry points to the Eagle Square, Federal Secretariat, National Assembly Complex, Supreme Court and Presidential Villa located around the Three Arms Zone, have been flooded with several security checkpoints.

This was also the case around major roads leading to the MKO Abiola Stadium, the venue originally designated for the protests tagged #EndBadGovernance.

This comes as the organizers of the protest on Friday vowed to carry out a one-million-man march in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, to climax the demonstrations.

Recall that the protest, demanding the return of fuel subsidy, among others, kicked-off Thursday last week.

DAILY POST reports that the protests turned violent in many states, including Kano, Kanu, Plateau, Niger, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno, with at least 15 persons reported dead, several injured and properties destroyed.
