APC sets up committee as impeachment crisis rocks Ondo govt

Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, on Thursday in Abuja, set up a nine-man committee to intervene in the impeachment crisis rocking the Ondo State Government.

Mr Edwin Olofu, Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, announced this in a statement.

He said the committee, under the leadership of Aminu Masari, a former governor of Katsina State, would also seek the peaceful reconciliation of all parties involved.

“The national secretariat of the party is really concerned about the unfortunate political situation in Ondo State, which, if not quickly averted, may lead to further disaffection among party faithful.

“Therefore, in order to avert the misunderstanding, and after critical observation of the situation, the national secretariat has decided to wade in.

“With a view to foster a better understanding that may likely lead to amicable resolution,” Ganduje said.

He assured the party members that the committee would interact and dialogue with all its stakeholders in the state based on mutual respect, with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis.

He urged all parties to remain calm and to extend all the necessary cooperation and support to the Masari-led committee.

Kwankwaso serial loser, says Ganduje

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje has described the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso as a serial loser due his personal ambition.

Ganduje made the remark while noting that Kwankwaso prefers to be a king in hell than be a servant in paradise.

Speaking on Tuesday night while receiving the Bauchi State 2023 NNPP governorship candidate, Haliru Jika, Ganduje said Kwankwaso specialises in deceiving people.

According to Ganduje: “The Kwankwasiyya group headed by the former Kano State governor was forced to go into a sabbatical leave for eight years before it found its way back to the Government House in Kano.

“The Kwankwasiyya head, who wears a red cap, is the person who prefers to be a king in hell than be a servant in paradise. He specialises in deceiving people.

“He was first in PDP and came back to APC, when it was formed. That was when the nPDP merged with the legacy parties to form the APC.

“Instead of staying in APC, because of his ambition, he decided to leave APC, after failing to pick the presidential ticket, to go back to the PDP. He could not stay there, again, when he failed to pick up the ticket.

“He is a professional contestant for presidential elections and would remain a professional failure. He loves himself so much. I am happy you have dumped the red cap. It is a very sensible action that you have taken.”

Kano tribunal judgment: I’m not afraid of appeal, says APC guber candidate, Gawuna

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the March 18 governorship election in Kano State, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, has said he is unafraid of the appeal challenging his victory at the tribunal.

The Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had, on Wednesday, declared the APC winner of the election and sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The three-man panel ordered a certificate of return to be issued to Gawuna and the withdrawal of a certificate of return presented to Yusuf.

The court noted that ballot papers of 165,663 votes were not stamped or signed and, therefore, were invalid and deducted the 165,663 votes from Yusuf’s total.

Speaking with BBC Hausa in an interview while commenting on the tribunal judgment, Gawuna said, “I am grateful to Allah for our victory in the Kano State election, which was affirmed by the court today (Wednesday). I thank Him for His will, which chose us to lead. I also thank our lawyers and the general public for their prayers and support.”

He noted that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) was initially declared the winner of the election but believed that Allah had already decided the outcome, saying they had the right to challenge the results in court, and they did so.

Gawuna said that anyone who believes that nothing happens without Allah’s will will never worry or take governance as a do-or-die affair, stressing that whatever happens to them, they believe it is the will of Allah.

According to him, “We are not intimidated or afraid, because we know that whatever happens is for the best. Allah never makes mistakes.”

Tribunal: Ganduje breaks silence over sacking of Kano gov

Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged the residents of the state to maintain peace following the verdict of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

In response to the ruling issued on September 20 affirming Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the APC as the legitimately elected governor of the state, Ganduje, who spoke with reporters in his Abuja home, advised the residents of Kano state to maintain their composure and promised them that business will soon resume as usual.

Recall that the APC had challenged the declaration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP as the winner of the March 18th, 2023 governorship election.

Ganduje who was flanked by Gawuna and a former governor of the state, Senator Kabir Gaya also expressed confidence that people will now be free to go about their businesses without fear of intimidation.

Also reacting, Gawuna, the APC candidate adjudged to have won the election by the tribunal promised to continue the legacy of the immediate past administration of Ganduje, where he served as deputy governor.

He equally appealed to the people to go after their works and businesses peacefully, declaring the judgement as the will of “Allah”.

Kano election tribunal: Ganduje’s son loses petition

The elections petition tribunal in Kano has dismissed the petition filed by Abba Ganduje, the son of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, for lack of merit and ordered him to pay N200,000 each to the respondents, Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court dismissed the petition by Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenging the victory of NNPP’s Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe in the Rimin Gado/Dawakin Tofa/Tofa House of Representatives election conducted on March 25, 2023.

The three-judge panel dismissed the petition for lack of merit.

The tribunal averred that the petitioner failed to present sufficient evidence to support the allegation.

Kogi gov: APC targets 99% support, victory at polls – Ganduje

The National Chairman, All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has tasked the Kogi State electorate to give the party nothing less than 99 per cent support and victory votes in the state’s forthcoming November 11 governorship election.

Ganduje gave the charge on Saturday while addressing party members and supporters at the official inauguration of the party’s National and State Campaign Councils for the election.

The national chairman said that Kogi was a traditional APC state and so, believed that the people would come all out to cast their votes solely for APC entrenchment of good governance.

“Today we are officially inaugurating the state campaign committee that will join hands with the national campaign committee and the LGAs campaign committees to ensure victory at the polls.

“You have tested good governance from Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration and as a party, we hope to do more with our flagbearer, Alhaji Usman Ododo, once elected into office.

“Ododo is your son, whom you know very well as a very loyal and hardworking person who is ready to serve you and the state in the capacity of governor.

“We are expecting nothing less than 99 per cent victory votes from the people of Kogi in this forthcoming November 11 governorship election, ” he said.

He told the residents that President Bola Tinubu had promised to support the state in providing an enabling environment required for peaceful and credible conduct of the governorship election.

Also, the governor gave assurance that the citizens of the state were all ready to cast their votes for APC, given the choice of a credible and articulate candidate in the person of Ododo.

“Alhaji Usman Ododo, the APC governorship flagbearer, is politically well-groomed with the needed experience and competence to lead Kogi to the next level of its development.

“Here in Kogi, we are of the belief that with Ododo as my successor, he will leverage my performances to turn around the fortunes of the state to greater heights, ” he said

Bello said all that was needed was for all residents to rally around APC and Ododo on November 11 for total victory “since we don’t have any serious opposition party posing any challenge or threat to our success here in Kogi.”

Ododo, the APC flag bearer, shortly after being presented with the party’s flag with his deputy, Oyibo Salifu, thanked Tinubu, Bello and the entire party members in Kogi for their support and encouragement.

Ododo said when elected as governor, he hopes to build on the enduring legacies of Bello, especially in the areas of security, education, health and agriculture, to bring about the state’s desired growth and development.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that both the Kogi State and National Gubernatorial Campaign Councils were inaugurated by the APC national chairman.

While Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, heads the national campaign Council,  Yahaya Bello will head the state campaign council.

In his acceptance speech, Abiodu pledged his council’s commitment and resilience to work with the governor’s-led state campaign council to conduct a vigorous and peaceful campaign that would attract opposition into supporting APC and its flag bearer for outright victory.

Uzodinma, Okorocha close ranks as VP, Ganduje move to reunite them ahead of Imo guber

Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Abdullahi Ganduje, national chair of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are making attempts to reunite Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo, and Rochas Okorocha, a former senator.

The duo have been at loggerheads for some time now over the politics of Imo.

In 2021, Uzodinma got a court injunction to seal property belonging to Okorocha.

Okorocha made an attempt to unseal one of the properties but he was arrested. He was granted bail same day.

In the buildup to the 2019 election in the state, Okorocha handpicked Uche Nwosu, his son-in-law, for the APC governorship ticket, over Uzodinma.

The result was two governorship candidates on the APC platform.

The party would go on to recognise Uzodinma as the authentic flagbearer, under the leadership of Adams Oshiomhole, the then national chair of the party.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday night, APC said it is now a united front.

The post had pictures of the four men high-fiving and wearing broad smiles.

“Vice President Kashim Shettima, our National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and Senator Rochas Okorocha parley,” the party posted.

“Ahead of the Imo state governorship election, APC is a united and strong house.”

The Imo governorship election holds on November 11.
