Terrorists take over Kainji National Park – Report

Terrorists have taken over and set up camp inside the Kainji National Park in New Bussa in Borgu local government area of Niger state.

It was gathered the terrorists come out daily from their hideouts to attack travellers along the busy Wawa-Luma highway which connects to the Benin Republic.

Staff of the National Park haslve stopped reporting to work after they were attacked several times by terrorists leaving some of them injured.

A source from one of the communities around the National Park, Aliyu Umar, claimed that there are a large number of terrorists occupying the park.

Umar said that the activities of the terrorists have made many residents abandon their farms with business activities affected.

According to the source, the terrorists abducted 10 passengers in a commercial Sharon bus along the Wawa-Luma Road and injured three others on a motorcycle last Tuesday.

Efforts to get Niger police spokesman, DSP Abiodun Wasiu proved abortive. His mobile was not going through.

The Vice Chairman of Borgu Local government area, Mallam Abdullahi Mohammed Nasir confirmed the development, describing it as very worrisome and disturbing.
