Tinubu to honour pilgrim who returned lost $80,000 to owner

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made arrangements to honor Hajiya Aishatu Yan Guru Bungudu Nahuche, a pilgrim from Zamfara, who shown integrity by returning to the owner the lost amount of $80,000, about N60 million, while making the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia in 2023.

This was disclosed by the chairman of the Zamfara State Hajj Committee, Alhaji Musa Mallaha, during a press briefing in his office, pointing out that the President was happy to be informed of the incident and directed the National Hajj Commission to organise a national press conference with the lady for record-keeping.

“But when the commission contacted us, the lady was already airlifted back to her home state in Nigeria after completing the Hajj exercise.

“We are still making arrangements for our Zamfara State governor to be part of the ceremony when the lady will be publicly honoured by the state’s First Lady,” Mallaha has stated.

Mallaha, who expressed apparent happiness with the level of honesty exhibited by the female pilgrim, stressed that her good behaviour is not only a pride to Zamfara and Nigeria as a nation but, by extension, a pride to the entire Muslim world.

“Honesty is one of the major divine teachings embodied in the Quran as the main guide for Muslims,” he said.
