We played without purpose – Arteta reacts to Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Chelsea
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has claimed his players did not show purpose during the first half of their 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Gunners went behind to a Cole Palmer penalty, after the referee deemed William Saliba to have handled the ball.
Mykhailo Mudryk doubled the Blues’ lead with a cross-shot that looped over David Raya.
However, Arteta’s men earned a point, thanks to goals from Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard.
“We played without enough purpose in the first half. I didn’t like it.
“Credit to the players and the team that we faced. We created the biggest problems for ourselves.
“If we cannot win, we don’t have to lose. We’ll take some learnings [from the game],” Arteta said after the game.
