The Northern Youths Democratic Forum has explained why no fewer than 58 senators from the North are backing Godswill Akpabio as Senate President ahead of the 10th National Assembly inauguration in June.
Speaking in Gombe, the National President of NYDF, Zangina Ahmed, said they had the backing of no fewer than 58 senators comprising lawmakers from the North.
Ahmed disclosed that Akpabio, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and ex-Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, had contributed to the development of the North, adding that his benevolence wasn’t limited to his region.

He added, “Senator Godswill Akpabio has helped many of us; youths in Northern Nigeria. That was why we chose him having consulted our leaders and they told us that Godswill Akpabio is much better among those aspiring for Senate President.
“We have 58 senators from northern Nigeria, most of whom we have spoken to and many of them have told us that Senator Godswill Akpabio is the right man and they have settled their mind to vote for the uncommon lawyer, governor, minister and now Senate President because of his capacity and detribalised nature.”
