Gunmen set federal lawmaker’s house ablaze in Anambra

Some gunmen suspected of operating in Nigeria’s South East region have set fire into residence of Rt Hon Pascal Agbordike, member of the National Assembly representing Anambra State’s Ihiala Federal Constituency.

It was gathered that the incident took place in the Agbordike compound in Ubahi Village, Mbosi town in Ihiala Local Government Area of the State at about 1 am on Tuesday.

The lawmaker said the palatial bungalow was completely burnt, and nothing was rescued.

He said he was not sure of who the arsonists were and called on the Police and other security agencies to investigate the incident.

“As I am talking with you, I am homeless, my building was completely burnt in the village, and nothing was rescued.

“I got a call at about 1 am this morning that my house was under by armed hoodlums, they gained access to the compound and burnt everything down while shooting indiscriminately.

“I lost everything in that house, it has five bedrooms and four living rooms, all my documents are lost in that inferno,” he said.

Agbordike was the immediate past deputy speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly.

DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State Command, confirmed the incident.
