Uzodinma, Okorocha close ranks as VP, Ganduje move to reunite them ahead of Imo guber
Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Abdullahi Ganduje, national chair of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are making attempts to reunite Hope Uzodinma, governor of Imo, and Rochas Okorocha, a former senator.
The duo have been at loggerheads for some time now over the politics of Imo.
In 2021, Uzodinma got a court injunction to seal property belonging to Okorocha.
Okorocha made an attempt to unseal one of the properties but he was arrested. He was granted bail same day.
In the buildup to the 2019 election in the state, Okorocha handpicked Uche Nwosu, his son-in-law, for the APC governorship ticket, over Uzodinma.
The result was two governorship candidates on the APC platform.
The party would go on to recognise Uzodinma as the authentic flagbearer, under the leadership of Adams Oshiomhole, the then national chair of the party.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday night, APC said it is now a united front.
The post had pictures of the four men high-fiving and wearing broad smiles.
“Vice President Kashim Shettima, our National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and Senator Rochas Okorocha parley,” the party posted.
“Ahead of the Imo state governorship election, APC is a united and strong house.”
The Imo governorship election holds on November 11.
